Description of organisation

The Karviná Regional Library supports community activities and social integration at the local level, increases the sense of belonging to the community. Podpora aktivit vedoucích k rozvoji mezilidských vztahů, ke komunikaci a kooperaci,se zaměřením na rodinné, mezigenerační a vrstevnické vztahy.
The essence of library activities is working with information but also important is the cultural and educational activities aimed at children, youth and adults, including work with handicapped people.
The Library access funds information-books, magazines and periodicals, electronic documents and databases without any restrictions regarding language, ethnic, political, religious, economic, cultural, education and age. The Library organizes cultural, educational and awareness events for the general public-meetings with writers, seminars, competitions, library and information lessons, exhibitions, musical programs, film screenings etc. The Library is also the founder of the Film Club. The Library also offers special services for blind and visually impaired citizens. The Library operates municipal information centre and organizes annual Book Fair.
Target group: children 0-15 years old, youth, adults, seniors and people with disabilities.
