description of organisation

Garten der Generationen (GdG) is an ecovillage project, first established in 2013. The community gardens were already cultivated way before the residential buildings were build. The vision of a community housing project - based on sustainability for all generations - is one of the key values of the GdG (see more about GdG values: https://www.gartendergenerationen.net/ueber-us/#unsere-werte.)
The aims of the “Garten der Generationen”, are based on it’s deep values. Young European volunteers can learn at the GdG many aspects of community living (e.g. sociocracy), how to use sustainable energy (geothermic heating, solar power), how permaculture gardening is implemented, how digitalization and event-planning works, how caring for the disabled and elder as well as small children is part of our community living and much more.
Our activities include (among others...) :
# day community activities for all ages (e.g. cooking food for the community)
# support of inhabitats with special needs (e.g. barrier-free rooms and adjustable kitchen)
# community gardening (e.g. lease of land parcels)
# Event management (e.g. workshops, seminars, festivals,..)
Our target groups are:
# residents of the cohousing (31 grown-ups and 17 kids)
# all permaculture and agriculture teams (internal and external)
# visitors / event guests
# local and regional community
# Persons interested in the GdG activities incl. GdG members (1077 on our newsletter list)
