Description of organisation

The Waldorf Cantabria School is located in a spectacular natural environment in Villanueva de Villaescusa, close to the city of Santander and the Cabarceno Natural Park. We have a nursery school, two kindergartens and our primary school is authorized by the Ministry of Education. Our school belongs to the Association of Waldorf Centres of Spain (ACEWE), ensuring the application of the principles of Waldorf Pedagogy.

Many years ago, in the 1980's, a group of people from different parts of the world met in Cantabria, bringing with them the impulse to create a centre for learning. Over time, these seeds germinated, giving rise to the non profit Waldorf Cantabria Association.

After much perseverance, a small kindergarten was born in 2013 with our first teacher and six children. The children grew and so did the needs of our project, an old abandoned building was found. Through the effort of the families, teachers and collaborators, the building was transformed into a beautiful and magical place to welcome more children.

In 2015, the Waldorf Cantabria Elementary School, la Escuela Waldorf Cantabria as it is called in Spanish, emerged. Little by little, the school has been progressively growing driven by teachers and families working together, forming a strong community with a faculty of nine specialized teachers, 76 families, former alumni and associates.
