Description of organisation

The Deutsche Gehörlosen-Jugend e.V. (DGJ) is the national youth association representing the interests of young deaf and hard-of-hearing people in Germany. Founded in 2004, DGJ is a non-profit, volunteer-driven organization that promotes the inclusion, empowerment, and equal participation of deaf youth in all areas of society. Our core mission is to advocate for the rights of deaf young people and to strengthen their social, educational, and cultural opportunities.
DGJ offers workshops, training, and networking events at both national and international levels. We actively promote accessible education, cultural identity, and the use of sign language, German Sign Language (DGS), as a vital part of deaf culture. Our target groups are deaf and hard-of-hearing young people between the ages of 12 and 27, as well as youth organizations and stakeholders committed to promoting inclusion and diversity.
