Description of organisation

Our organisation is an independent non-profit based in northern Sweden, working at the intersection of culture, community and sustainability. We create and host artistic projects with a particular focus on contemporary dance, Indigenous knowledge, environmental awareness and rural development. Our main initiatives include residencies, workshops and festivals that take place in remote and culturally significant locations such as Jillat – Sámi Dance Center in Vuollerim, and the Skájdde Festival at the nature reserve Storforsen. These projects provide platforms for artistic creation, cultural exchange and social engagement – often involving both local communities and international collaborators. We work with a wide range of participants including artists, young people, Indigenous practitioners, and community organisers. Many of our activities focus on young adults and emerging artists who are seeking new ways to work sustainably and build international networks, especially in rural and underrepresented areas. Our aim is to foster inclusive, creative environments that encourage learning, experimentation and solidarity. Through the hosting of ESC volunteers, we want to further develop this vision by engaging young people from across Europe in meaningful cultural projects that promote artistic freedom, mutual understanding and social responsibility.
