Located in Manosque (France), the association “Eclat de Lire” is an organization that aims to develop the pleasure to read, the interest in books and to allow the largest public to have an access to reading. It has different missions: - Regular missions: street libraries, animations and readings for children, reading clubs and radio shows, readings in schools, readings with youths and elderly people. - Punctual missions: book festival, “poets’ spring”, etc. - Hosting an illustrator in residence Eclat de Lire is a small organization, thus the volunteers must take part in most of the activities as well as to all meetings and trainings, in order to have the largest view possible on the cultural action of the organization. Yet, the volunteers have specific missions: contribution to the updating of the website and social networks, be aware of new youth book published, and contribution to the realization of an European partnership.
TranslateAccommodation, food and transport arrangements
Food The volunteer will get a budget to cover the food expenses. The volunteer will cook the meals by himself; all standard cooking equipment is provided in the house. Accommodation The volunteer will be hosted in a private and independent studio-flat, full equipped, shared with another volunteer. Local transport : The collectives transports are free in the city of Manosque.
TranslateTraining during the project
The volunteers will participate to the 2 seminars organise by the french national agency during the first month after their arrival and after 7 months as mid term seminar.
TranslateVolunteer profile
The participants need to be between 18 and 30. This project requires an extremely motivated volunteer who has a keen interest in youth, in books and reading and a true desire to share. Some basics of french english would be helpful.
