The project will engage 1 volunteer from the Netherlands, whose voluntary service will last 10 months in Funchal, in Madeira Island, Portugal from 1st of May, 2017 until 28th of February, 2018. The EVS volunteer’s role is supporting this project for AAUMa considering the different address groups: kids, youngsters, adults and elderly. The main project in which the volunteer will be encouraged to participate and support is called Madeiran Heritage, which embraces several cultural projects that have an impact on society through three different lines of action. The University of Madeira Students’ Union (AAUMa) develops, since 2012, guided tours in several landmarks of the city of Funchal. These are divided into four types: quick tours, guided visits, autonomous circuits and educational visits.
TranslateAccommodation, food and transport arrangements
Accommodation: The volunteer will be hosted at the University Residence, located in the historical center of Funchal, inaugurated in 2009. If offers modern and comfortable environment. The residence has over 31 double rooms and 45 triple rooms equipped with private bathroom, free Wifi in the common areas, two kitchens and a laundry room. Also, AAUMa has acquired several equipments in order to make the stay of the volunteers more pleasant, such as mini-fridges, cooking utilities or cleaning equipment.
TranslateTraining during the project
Pre-Departure, On-Arrival and Mid-Term training will be conducted to equip volunteer with necessary information about the project and volunteer's rights and obligations.

The participant who will be involved in this project will be selected according to the following qualities and interests: - He/she has an interest in working with different age groups and is open to different cultures - He/she has the motivation to take part in new projects and to acquire new knowledge - He/she has good oral and written communication skills - He/she has a creative mind and is able to initiate, develop and implement his/her own activity ideas.
