Madeira, Portugal

Project description

Associação Académica da Universidade da Madeira (AAUMa) aims to represent and support all the students of the University of Madeira in Funchal, involving them in the promotion of different cultural activities. One of these is the aptly named History Tellers – Walk with real stories project, aimed to raise the awareness of the cultural heritage of Funchal through guided tours throughout the city. The role of EVS volunteers in our “David Ricardo” Madeiran Heritage Project is to support the History Tellers project and run guided tours in personal, fun style. Volunteers will accompany the visitors and explain the history behind every one of the landmarks in the city. All the activities will be carried out in cooperation with other workers and volunteers from AAUMa, already engaged in the process. The volunteers will gain several skills, competencies, and knowledge useful for their personal and professional development.
