Project description

This project is a unique opportunity for young people who are interested in arts, history, portraits and genealogy research. We're looking for two volunteers to the National Portrait Collection and Gallery who would be interested in taking part in some of the following activities for one year: * interactive, non-formal museum pedagogy (making creative artistic-historical workshops with students of the district) * organizing and realizing exhibitions in the gallery * editing brochures and promotional stuff * researching, genealogical researches * webpage editing and handling the database of portraits * promotion of EVS Volunteers will get high independency on choosing their preferred topics to work with, and they'll also be encouraged to start a personal project connected to the topic.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

Accommodation: volunteers will be placed in a flat close to the working place. Most probably volunteers will have a roommate. Food: volunteers will receive the amount of 40.000 HUF for food every month along with the pocket money (in cash or on a bank account opened for the project, as the volunteer prefers). Transport: as the flat will be close to the working place, volunteers will most probably get bikes for transportation. Transport to any activities further will be reimbursed.

Training during the project

After the volunteers' arrival, there will be an orientation day organized so that they can get familiar with the surroundings and most important places. Volunteers must participate in the two trainings organized by the Hungarian National Agency (on-arrival and mid-term). Volunteers will also be welcome on trainings and workshops organized by and to the colleagues of the Gallery, connected to their work.

Volunteer profile

We're looking for Hungarian-speaking youngsters between 18-30 who are interested in arts, history, research of portraits and non-formal museum pedagogy. Ideal volunteers are creative, willing to work in a team and to work with people from all ages, trying out new things and getting to know new people. Willingness to help with event organization is a big plus. But most important of all we're looking for open and positive people who can bring a new energies to the life of our organization!
