ARIA - Associação de Reabilitação e Integração Ajuda is a Private Institution of Social Solidarity (IPSS), non-profit organization that works with people with mental health problems, in psychosocial disadvantage. The mission from ARIA is to help people with mental health problems to acquire the resources needed to psychosocial rehabilitation and socio-professional integration..decrease stereotypes & overcome their ability to react to new situations, to accept different cultures, to open their minds, adaptability & autonomy. At ARIA volunteers are supposed to help in rehabilitation activities, such as crafts or basic skills training; teach clients the use pf public services & public transports; plan & conduct social & recreational activities (eg.: indoor & outdoor games & group activities, visits to places of interest (museums, cultural activities, art galleries); spend quality time with clients, talk, take a walk or just listen them; accompany clients to medical appointments, etc.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

ProAtlântico provides €5 per day for food and extra expenses (eg. cleaning materials) during non-working time. Volunteer can use the food money to buy food, cook in the apartment, eat in a restaurant, etc). During working time the receiving organization provides meals in the organization which is based on a Mediterranean diet. ProAtlântico provides accommodation in apartment (with 6/8 volunteers in total), University residence, hostel or hosting family, Casa Europa, multiple bedroom with fully equipped kitchen,toilet, laundry facilities and living room.

Training during the project

ProAtlântico will support the volunteers in the learning of portuguese. During the project, volunteers will have different trainings (work with children, Youthpass, etc). Volunteers will participate in trainings promoted by National Agency.

Volunteer profile

Volunteers must be very human, self motivated, proactive, creative, with handwork skills, with selfinitiative, willing to take on new challenges, very flexible and ready to help in different tasks with disabled people education and life. A high motivation to work with this group and special interest on music, dance, theater, sports, cooking, computers, handicrafts, gardening, history, can be an added value, since these areas their fields of interest and will be the way to reach their attention. So, is expected the volunteers to have a positive attitude, patience and good listening capacity.
