Project description

The Trampoline House is working to include asylum seekers and immigrants into Danish society and introduce them to democracy. We believe this is best learned through contact with Danes and practical democratic processes. The Trampoline House has one full-time employee and two part-time employees. These people take care of the overall management and coordination of activities at the Trampoline House. About 100 volunteers then help with everything from transport over hairstyling to language training. The project is located in the heart of Nørrebro – the most multi-cultural part of Copenhagen. Nørrebro is popular among both artists, immigrants and students and these groups make up the bulk of the neighbourhood’s population.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

The volunteer will be living in a host family, which will be found by Dansk ICYE and Trampolinhuset. We aim to find a family living as close to the project as possible, but the volunteer might have spend some time daily on transport to and from the project. The host family does not receive payment but is opening their home to the volunteer based on the interest of an intercultural understanding. The food will be provided by the family. Transportation from the accommodation to the project is covered by Dansk ICYE.

Training during the project

The volunteer will participate on an on-arrival training provided by our national Agency, IU as well as a mid-term meeting halfway through the stay. These seminars are compulsory. But furthermore the volunteer will be invited to a series of seminars, meetings and other events organized by Dansk ICYE together with the volunteers we host from Europe but also from Asia, Africa and Latinamerica as well. Themes of the seminars will vary, but will enhance the intercultural learning process and give the volunteer a chance to share and form new friendships.
