Gallo Roman immersion in the Archeopark malagne

The Archeopark of Malagne is an interpretation center of Gallo-Roman rural civilization and a living museum intended for the general public. Open since 1996, the Archéoparc showcases a Gallo-Roman villa from nearly 2000 years ago, that is to say an ancient farm with its buildings and land.
Malagne is a non-profit organization of permanent education which aims to raise awareness of archeology and to understand the daily gestures of our Gallo-Roman ancestors. Malagne reconstructs the daily activities of a villa of the 1st century AD: crops, breeding old breeds, crafts, working the land (clay, pottery, ceramics), iron and fire (low furnace, forge), cooking bread in a Gallo-Roman oven, making cervoise, … Several festive weekends punctuate the season, in particular the Gallo-Roman meetings on July 16-17. These moments make it possible to generate income in order to continue to create moments of awareness for the general public but also to contribute to supporting the maintenance of this heritage.

The volunteers will participate with the team in the preparation and storage of Gallo-Roman meetings in order to discover Gallo-Roman know-how and crafts. This is essentially the assembly and disassembly of the infrastructure necessary for this event (arbours, bar, barbecue, benches and tables). In connection with this festival, the volunteers will also work on the maintenance of the site and the gardens (weeding, mowing, hedge trimming, haymaking). During the festive weekend, the volunteers will lend a hand to the team but will also be able to take advantage of the various workshops. Depending on priorities and the weather, volunteers may also participate in the maintenance of reconstructed buildings, the manufacture of cob walls or the development of other structures.
