What is Marine Litter Watch Program-MLW?

Marine litter is defined as the substances produced by human beings that are left / thrown directly into the seas or transported by river, wind, storm, and which constitute permanence in the sea. It is important to follow up because Marine Litter adversely affects the marine life and recreational use and human health in that area and can often be transported by sea. The Marine Litter Monitoring Program (MLW) is a European Environment Agency initiative aimed at monitoring marine litter and tackling the problem of marine litter, and aims to empower citizen communities to provide relevant data while raising greater awareness of marine litter at the local level.
