Project Week 'Young People make the City'
In the school year 2023-24, young design students – secondary school students, architecture, interior design, urban planning and landscape students, etc. – will take up this challenge. And this in places in the city where young people see potential. Places where they find the UN- from UNsafe (slackers, traffic, tourism, swearing tirades, garbage, etc.), from UNaffordable (living, consuming, catering, etc.), from INaccessible (sports clubs, gentrification, rural areas, etc.), from INhospitable (lack of silence, shelter, hangout, etc.), and from impassable areas (roads, facilities, etc.).
5 environments form the playing field. 5 architecture forms the working material. The academic year 2023-'24 is the time slot in which studio exercises, design workshops, but also construction experiments can take place in the city. And in the autumn of 2024 we will bring all the design work together in an exhibition. In this way, young people give direction to the future of Ghent.
