Council of Tallinn simulation

Tallinna linna noortevolikogu - Estonia

The Tallinn Youth Council organised a participation project due to the fact that young people and volunteers of the regional youth council wanted to restore the tradition of organising a city council simulation. The project gave the opportunity to explain to young people how the city council works and allow them to put themselves in the shoes of the commissioners. During the activities, it was explained how different legal acts are drafted and adopted. A total of 80 young people, 12 decision-makers (politicians, experts and educators) participated in the simulation, and the activities were carried out by an 8-member organising team.

During the simulation, 3 regulations were adopted, which concerned the adaptation of the public transport line network, the neutralization of greenhouse gases and the organisation of the driving course mentioned above. All adopted regulations were sent to a lawyer for review and then to the Tallinn City Government for opinions. Most of them also received an answer.
