Become a Junior Professional in an EU Delegation (JPD)

Every two years, the European External Action Service and the European Commission open positions for high-quality traineeships in the EU Delegations around the world.
For the round 2023-2025, a minimum of 54 Junior Professionals will be offered a position (2 per Member State), but additional posts might be financed through voluntary contributions of EU Member States.
Who can apply?

Nationals from an EU Member State,
-
Holding at least a university degree equivalent to a Master's degree in a domain relevant to the activities of the Delegations;

With excellent command of English and/or French; knowledge of other languages is an asset;

Have, by the closing date for applications, not more than 1 year of professional experience in an EU institution;

Candidates who show a great interest and motivation to work in a Delegation;
-
Professional experience, extra-curriculum activities such as volunteering or publications, is an important asset.
Where does the traineeship take place?
Junior Professionals can work in one of the 143 EU Delegations and can be posted, depending on the nature of their tasks, in:

the EEAS sections - for political, press and information functions
-
the EC sections - for development policy, programme/project management, humanitarian affairs, etc.
What’s in the position?
Junior Professionals will be offered a single traineeship agreement of a fixed-term of twelve (12) months, which can be renewed for another period of twelve (12) months.
Trainees will be entitled to a monthly remuneration package composed of:

a grant of 2,000 EUR;
-
an accommodation contribution set at 1,500 EUR;
-
a hardship contribution added to these mentioned above - depending on the Living Conditions Allowance in a Delegation from 10% to 30%.
In addition, JPDs will be granted:

an installation contribution of 2,340 EUR at the beginning of their traineeship;

a contribution for the cost of the journey for each period of 12 months of traineeship - 2,926 EUR;
-
1,800 EUR to cover the insurance cost for each period of 12 months of traineeship.
Selection process
Member States are in charge of conducting the pre-selection of candidates whereas the final selection of Junior Professionals is made by the EEAS and the EC.
