What's the Interreg Volunteer Youth?

Interreg Volunteer Youth (IVY) is a volunteering programme of the European Commission to promote cooperation in the European Union and all its neighbouring countries.

Along with local actors, IVY volunteers tackle the challenges that Europe and its neighbouring regions are facing, helping to find and implement common solutions.

What do IVY volunteers do?

Every IVY volunteer supports and promotes cooperation – and there are various ways to do so: from sparking engagement in communication campaigns to fuelling the implementation of transformative projects.

IVY offers a diverse range of experiences, with volunteers supporting a variety of projects and activities across different regions. We welcome individuals from various cultural backgrounds, each bringing their unique competencies, experiences, and interests.

Through their engagement, IVY volunteers also develop new skills on both a personal and professional level.

How does an IVY volunteering experience work?

Citizens and residents of the European Union and eligible countries (see full list) who are 18 to 30 years old can participate.

Each experience lasts 2 to 6 months, depending on the offer and the volunteer’s availability.

IVY volunteers are hosted by programmes of cooperation and related projects – so called Interreg, as they enable regional cooperation.

Support and benefits of participating to IVY

Volunteers are fully supported throughout their experience with:

• financial support plus contribution to travel costs
• health, accident and liability insurance
• pre-departure training and continuous assistance
• tailored support if needed
