Get ready for the DiscoverEU call!

Do you have everything you need to be one of the 40,000 winners of travel passes to discover Europe by train?

DiscoverEU is an initiative of the European Union, now part of the Erasmus+ programme, offering a travel pass to young people aged 18. The next application round for DiscoverEU will open on the European Youth Portal from 1 to 15 October 2026 (opening and closing at 12:00 midday, Brussels time).

To apply, you need to: 

• Have been born between 1 January 2008 (included) and 31 December 2008 (included); 
• Be a citizen or resident of one of the following countries: The Member States of the European Union, including its outermost regions; or The Overseas Countries and Territories (OCTs) associated with the European Union; or the third countries associated with the Erasmus+ programme: Iceland, Liechtenstein, North Macedonia, Norway, Serbia and Türkiye;
• Enter the correct ID, passport or legal residence card number in the online application form. 
• If you are selected, you can travel for a minimum of 1 day and up to 30 days between 1 March 2026 and 31 May 2027.

How does it work? 

After filling in your personal data in the application form, you will answer a quiz of five multiple‑choice questions on general knowledge about the European Union and other EU initiatives targeting young people. 
You will also be asked to answer a subsidiary question. 

If you have a disability or a health problem that makes your trip challenging, you will receive assistance and support to help you take part in DiscoverEU.

Wondering if you can travel with your friends? 

Yes, you can. It's up to you: you can go solo or add up to four friends to your group, provided they meet the eligibility criteria. If you want to hear more from previous participants, get in touch with the DiscoverEU Ambassadors: you can find them in the DiscoverEU Facebook group. From there, you can also connect with other DiscoverEU travellers, share your travel plans, organise meet‑ups and get inspired.
