Hack for Earth Youth Hackathon at COP27

Dernière modification le Mardi, 18/10/2022

Hack for Earth and German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) is inviting youth worldwide to a global hackathon on climate change at COP27 in Egypt, a collaboration with UNFCCC, UNICEF and several other organisations working globally to make voices of youth heard.

Youth aged 16-35 from all over the world will join the hackathon, and use their diverse skills to create digital solutions tackling climate change. The hackathon has a strong focus on inclusion and diversity. Winners will present their innovative solutions to a panel of world leaders at the UN conference COP27. The winning teams will also join the Build for Earth acceleration programme, designed to make their solutions a reality.

Hack for Earth Youth Hackathon is a hybrid hackathon, taking place November 2nd  - 4th , 2022.

The urgency of climate change has never been greater, and the contribution of youth's competence to bring about real solutions on climate change cannot be overestimated, says Secretary General Ann Molin of the Hack for Earth Foundation.

Experts in tech and climate change are most welcome to sign up as mentors for the hacker teams, to support them in their mission on creating innovative solutions. Diversity in competence of mentors is a most valuable resource for the competing hacker teams – and it’s an excellent opportunity to share your knowledge!

There are seven challenges to compete in, all created in close collaboration with our co-organizer GIZ:

1.Transport, 2. Agriculture, 3. Biodiversity, 4. Smart Cities, 5. Energy, 6. Natural Resources Management and 7. Sustainable Digital Solutions.
