The European Parliament honours this year’s laureates during the last plenary session of 2025: Andrzej Poczobut and Mzia Amaglobeli, journalists fighting for democracy in Belarus and Georgia.

In recognition of individuals or organisations fighting for human rights and democracy all around the world, the Sakharov Prize for freedom of thought, first awarded in 1988, is given to support their efforts.
