Sist oppdatert Onsdag, 22/02/2023
Welcome back to Episode 5 of the podcast! At ‘Let’s Queer Some Things Up’, we discuss topics that are important to us, the young Europeans. The focus of our podcast, as outlined in episode one, is to raise awareness on the reality of the LGBTQI+ community in Europe.
In this episode, Kacper Król speaks to Mona Liza - a drag queen, singer, and lyricist from Poland. You can express your inner expression in many ways, one of which is drag art. Among other things, you'll find out what Mona Lizak's mission is, what she does and what life is like for drag queens in Poland and how the situation of the LGBTQI+ community in Europe is changing. You will also learn that not every drag queen watches RuPaul's Drag Race!
The conversation with Mona is also a huge dose of motivation to take action and break through your inner barriers. You'll hear about what drag life is like in Poland, and how you can express your emotions through the art of drag.
We hope that this episode will give you a lot of motivation to take action and start making changes in your immediate surroundings because it is up to us to make Europe a tolerant place for All without exception!

Meet the authors Aleesha Wiegandt and Kacper Król (Members of the pool of European young journalists – Edition 2022)
"I am a 21-year-old Politics and French student from Cork, Ireland, currently living in Lille, France. I have over five years experience as a committed volunteer and youth worker with YMCA Ireland, Comhairle na nÓg and EIL Ireland. I have also chaired the Suicide Awareness and Mental Health Society in University College Cork for a year after sitting as Public Relations Officer on the Committee the year prior. I have a wide range of experience in digital media, podcast creation and written articles, having been at the core of two YMCA podcasts in the last three years, 'Generation Z' and 'The Happiness Jar'. I have also been a youth reporter for close to five years, having interviewed a number of political and public personalities. My main areas of interest in journalism work are predominantly those linked with mental health, environmentalism, the Sustainable Development Goals, intercultural learning, and Global Justice. I am passionate about youth participation, which has been at the core of all the projects I have embarked on, being a true believer in young people rests at the heart of all the major political and social issues that face today's ever-changing world." (Aleesha)
"My name is Kacper, I’m 23 years old and I’m a graduate of Journalism and Social Communication. For now, I’m studying Media productions and International and EU law in University of Maria Curie-Skłodowska in Lublin. During three years I have been working in the Radio Centrum newsroom, where I have been a reporter and publisher. I have also been running an authorial radio program about traveling for two years, as it has become my passion. I have visited several countries in various Erasmus+ projects. I believe that every trip has allowed me to cross my inner boundaries and broaden my horizons. Volunteering is very important in my life and my work at the Sempre a Frente Foundation has allowed me to help others and change the thinking of the local community.
My experience on a project as part of the European Solidarity Corps in North Macedonia would certainly make my work as a journalist for the European Youth Portal easier. Promoting trips within the framework of various EU programs and changing other people's perceptions of reality by showing them development opportunities is my passion. Remember to cross the borders not only of other countries, but also your own!"
