Safer Internet Day: Making the online world safer for young people
Zuletzt aktualisiert am Mittwoch, 11/02/2026
10 February is Safer Internet Day, celebrated by young people around the world. Activities on this day will be complemented by many other actions carried out during the whole month of February.
Safer Internet Day aims to help make the internet safer, kinder, and more responsible. Celebrated in over 160 countries, it raises awareness about key issues that matter to young users, such as cyberbullying, digital wellbeing, privacy, artificial intelligence, age‑appropriate content, and respectful online communication.
How you can get involved:
- Join or organise an event at your school, youth centre, or online community, such as a workshop, debate, or creative campaign about online safety.
- Share positive messages on social media using the Safer Internet Day hashtag to encourage respectful and kind online behaviour.
- Take part in online quizzes, challenges, or campaigns run by national Safer Internet Centres to learn more about privacy, cyberbullying, and digital wellbeing.
- Talk to friends, classmates, or family about how to stay safe online and support each other if someone experiences online harm.
If you want to learn more and find resources to stay safe online, check the numerous events and activities taking place close to you.
Safer Internet Day is a flagship initiative of the European Commission and is supported in Europe by the Insafe and INHOPE networks. It brings together schools, parents, policymakers, and organisations to work together for a better online environment for children and young people.
