What if your next big adventure starts with a train pass?

With DiscoverEU,  if you’re 18, you can get the chance to travel across Europe, discover new places and experience the continent beyond the classroom. The initiative is part of the Erasmus+ programme and opens the door to unforgettable experiences on the road.

The next applications for DiscoverEU will open on the European Youth Portal, from Wednesday 8 April 2026 at 12:00 (CET) to Wednesday 22 April 2026 at 12:00 (CET)

To apply, you need to:

• Have been born between 1 July 2007 (included) and 30 June 2008 (included);
• Be a citizen or resident of one of the following countries:
  • one of the European Union Member States, including Overseas Countries and Territories (OCTs)  or
  • one of the third countries associated to the Erasmus+ programme: Iceland, Liechtenstein, North Macedonia, Norway, Serbia, and Turkey;
• Submit the correct ID, passport or legal residence card number on the online application form;

If you are selected, you can travel for up to 7 days in a period of maximum one month between 1 July 2026 and 30 September 2027.

What do you need to do?

After completing the application form, you will have to answer a quiz of 5 multiple-choice questions on general knowledge about the European Union and on other European Union initiatives for young people. You will also be asked to answer a subsidiary question. 

DiscoverEU also aims to be accessible for all. If you’re a participant whose trip may be affected by a disability or health issue, you can receive further support and assistance.

Want to share the experience with friends?

That’s wonderful! You can apply on your own or as part of a group of up to 5 people in total. To join the same group, your friends need to meet the eligibility requirements and use your application code when submitting their applications.
