Project "Learning by to doing - Diaconal Year in Poland" involves volunteers from different countries into structures of social/charity/educational institution. One of them is The Martin Luther Memorial Evangelical Centre for Diaconia and Education Foundation in Wroclaw. The volunteer will join in tasks which encourage the client to grow emotionally, mentally, physically, socially and spiritually. To give you an idea of the volunteer’s duties we mention here different sorts of tasks during the whole project: - ECDiE schools : we need volunteers who may assist a teacher in his/her work, prepare simple language games, help disabled, dislectic or mentally retarded children write or follow the lesson, provide conversations as a native speaker, help them with their homework, etc., volunteers may help teachers to assist students during trips, e.g. pull wheel chairs or carry them into a bus. Individual projects according to the volunteers skills.

Alojamiento, manutención y transporte

The volunteer will have a room with bathroom and access to the kitchen in a rented apartament. The volunteers will work from Monday till Friday. Weekends are free. There are 18 days of vacations during the activity – 2 per worked month. Christmas and national holidays are free. The volunteer can cook for himself/herself or eat lunch at the hosting organisation canteen. The volunteer will have the monthly bus ticket to have an easy access to the public transport.

Formación durante la actividad

Our volunteers will participate in two ESC trainings. The volunteers will be supported by the mentor who is an emphatic and open person. Also all the other workers will be open and sensitive for the needs of the volunteer. The volunteer in a host country will be also supported by the coordinating organization that will organise 3 seminars during the 9 months, and important part of the seminars is the evaluation and giving support to the volunteers in their "project" life. The volunteers will learn also about Poland, its culture, histrory, traditions, regions.

Perfil del participante

We would like to host someone who is really interested in Poland, who wants to help the others, who is open for new activities, who wants to try work with different age groups. The Centre prefers the volunteers who promote healthy life style. In the hosting organisation are English speaking employees, so it would be good if the ESC volunteer speaks (at least basic) this language.We would like someone who is responsible, who is aware of the fact that is being observed as an ambassador of its own country, and in some ways is the model for the local people.
