Description
La Redonnerie is an NGO thrift sto in Redon working for reducing and valuing waste : collects waste (household, books, clothes...), sorts, cleans, repairs, transforms, sales/distributes the final valued products, organises workshops around raising awareness on waste reduction, reusing, repairing, recycling, circular economy and sustainable development. The volunteer will : – Support the organisation of activities in La Redonnerie in communication and will be encouraged to propose his.her own activities in connection with reuse, zero waste or repair. – Help rising awareness about reuse and recycling – Support the animation team on events – Help organise and encourage workshops with then local volunteers and the employees. – Support the team in the thrift store – Together with the volunteers hosted in Redon, participate on a collective project
Accommodation, food and transport arrangements
The volunteer will share a furnished apartment provided by the MAPAR with 3 ESC or French Volunteers) where the volunteers can cook. Each volunteer will have their own private bedroom. The kitchen, the living-room and the bathroom are shared. The volunteers are responsible for keeping the apartment clean. A coordinator from the MAPAR will come by every 2 weeks to check the cleaning of the common areas. The volunteer will receive a daily allowance of 7,55 € for food and 6,00 € / day for pocket money. There is no public transportation in Redon. The volunteer can rent a bike covered by la MAPAR.
Training during the activity
The volunteer will be supported by the team of la Redonnerie, in particular the coordinator. The coordinator and the director will be the volunteer's mentors. The volunteer will also be connected with ESC coordinator from la MAPAR, who will provide personal and collective support during the entire stay.The volunteer will get 2 hours a week of collective French classes + info about LA REDONNERIE : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jR9BcNycGFk
Participant profile
The candidate’s motivation will to work with a large team (about ten employees and a hundred volunteers) and welcome a diversity of publics (adults, children, disabled people, seniors, etc), among which some are facing various difficulties. We would rather select a candidate who is interested in social area and educational activities. THe volunteer should feel at ease with communication tools. Basic French will be appreciated. Driving license would be an advantage (but is not mandatory).
