ESC placement in a Montessori kindergarten in Berlin (Kipsi)

Montessori-Kinderhaus Kipsi

Montessori Kinderhaus Kipsi

Berlin-Wilmersdorf, Allemagne

Description

The bilingual Montessori children's house Kipsi is centrally located at the S-Bahn and U-Bahn station Bundesplatz and close to the Volkspark. There are currently around 50 children in mixed-age groups from 3 years to years until they start school. The children participate in a German-English speaking environment in the kindergarten. The team consists of international staff members with different mother tongues. By bringing the contact with native speakers of English, they are introduced to the foreign language through play. The focus is on fun and trust in people, neglecting duty and coercion. The volunteers accompany the teachers and educators in their daily work. Typical tasks of volunteers can be: - Supervising children and accompanying them while they play, reading books to them. - Accompanying the morning or lunch circle - Accompanying excursions to the forest, sports hall or other places - Kitchen work - washing up after meals together, preparing meals

Modalités d'hébergement, de restauration et de transport

Accomodation is provided in a shared apartment, together with six other volunteers. Each of them has an own bedroom, two bathrooms and kitchen are shared. Your daily travel time to work is around 30 minutes (per direction) by train, because Berlin is a large city. You will be provided with a monthly ticket for local public transport. You will receive a monthly payment for grocery shopping (around 333 €) and a monthly pocket money in the amount of 210 € (general amount for volunteers in Germany).

Formation pendant l’activité

The volunteers will receive at least one German language course and additionally the online language course via the online system. The volunteers get the possibility to take part in the meetings of the team and will also have meetings only with the tutor on a regular basis. For the service in this child day care centre it is necessary that the volunteers have a training in hygiene. It will be conducted by the local health office. Moreover, volunteers will take part in two seminars, conducted by the German National Agency (one during the first weeks of the project and one in the middle).

Profil du participant

The motivation of the volunteer to do a voluntary service and work with children is the most important criteria in selecting the volunteers. Since there are only female educators working at Kipsi, we would prefer male applicants. Other criteria might be: - very good English language skills (B2/C1), since the children are bilingual - basic knowledge of the German language is an advantage, but no must - desirable: initial experience in the field of education - creative, technical, sports and/or musical skills - interest in the Montessori principles Since 2021, it is obligatory that people working in kindergardens in Germany have a measles immunisation. If you do´t have it, please be prepared to get the vaccination soon after your arrival in Germany.
