Description

In our institution we care for about 50 children from the age of 1 year until they enter the primary school. We have 6 staff persons in the pedagogical field and 2 in housekeeping. The nursery „Arche“ is belonging to the campus of the Samaritian Institute; this institute is part of Diaconia, the protestant (christian) relief organisation in Germany.The nursery „Arche“ is located in the green central campus of the Samaritian Institute in the city of Fürstenwalde. Tasks of the volunteer: - indoor and outdoor playing with the children - supporting children with clothing, comforting them, accompanying them, serve meals, etc. - taking part in the morning opening circle (welcoming children, singing songs) and sometimes preparing and conducting it - presenting their home country, comparing it with Germany, including the knowledge of the children.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

Each volunteer will have his/her own single room in a 3-room flat. The bathroom, the kitchen and the corridor has to be shared with two other volunteers. The flat is located in Fürstenwalde. In the building there are two other flats where are living other volunteers. The volunteers are responsible for the cleanliness of the flat. The volunteer will receive food allowance (263,00 €) and pocket money (150,00 €) and should cook for him/herself. Fürstenwalde is situated 60 km far from Berlin. There is a train which runs every 30 min. to Berlin centre and take about 40 min.

Training during the activity

The volunteers have to participate in two seminars (on-arrival, mid-term), organized by the German National Agency and in a 4-week-German course in Berlin. Moreover, the volunteers, belonging to the same coordinating organisation (JuSeV), participate monthly in the cultural-meeting-days which are organized by the association.

Participant profile

Volunteers will be selected on the basis of the applications received. Please send you CV and ML to volunteering@jusev.de and write in the subject the title of the placement.Criteria for the volunteering are: openness, communication skills, responsibility, fun to work with people and previous social engagement in their home country. Experience in working with people, as well as basic knowledge of the German language is an advantage but not compulsory. Gender, nationality, religion and degrees or certificates are irrelevant. All applications we receive will be forwarded to the project leaders.
