Description

The volunteering project will take place in Lannion, Brittany (city of app. 21 000 habitants, including about 4000 university students). The volunteer will be hosted by the City Hall and will be working with people with disabilities, family caregivers and the elderly people under the mentorship of the Disability and Health Prevention Coordinator. As part of the development of its inclusive policy, the volunteer’s missions will be: ● Information and participation: Reaching out to target audiences to give them information and support, and facilitate their participation in city projects. ● Social cohesion: Organising friendly, inclusive events facilitating meetups. Smoothen the participation of people with disabilities, their care-givers and senior citizens in these events. ● Raising awareness: organising workshops to raise awareness of disabilities (role-playing, communication, etc.). Personal initiatives and projects will be strongly welcomed and supported.

Modalités d'hébergement, de restauration et de transport

The volunteer will live with 3 other ESC volunteers in a renovated shared flat. They will have their own bedroom. Kitchen, living room and bathroom will be shared. Internet connection in the accommodation will be provided. An electric bicycle will be offered to the volunteer for a minimum 6 months. Lunch will be covered by the municipality (at the town’s canteen). Other food expenses will be covered by the indemnity allocated to the volunteer..

Only criteria is motivation: the desire to live an intercultural experience and to work with and for people with disabilities, their caregivers, and the elderly. An intermediate level of French and a driving licence is strongly recommended. The city encourages diversity and equal opportunities. Profil du participant

Our only criteria is motivation, based on two aspects: the desire to live an intercultural experience and the will to work with and for people with disabilities, their caregivers and the elderly. The volonteer need to have awareness of autonomy and inclusion issues and have an ability to create social links. An intermediate level of French is strongly recommended. Driving licence recommended to facilitate the tasks. The city encourages diversity and equal opportunities. Applications from people with disabilities are particularly welcome.
