Description
The Europe House in Nîmes – Europe Direct and the hosting organization, Purple Campus Alès are looking for a volunteer for a 10 months project in Alès, a town in the south of France. The aim of the project is to facilitate intercultural exchanges between the volunteer and the apprentices (between 15 and 22 years old on average). His/her activities will be using non-formal learning methods to create and carry out workshops for young people. Most of the activities of the volunteer will be linked to the English language, to European culture, to ecology, to new technologies and to tolerance, human rights and health and safety. A big part of the volunteering will be dedicated to volunteer's personal projects and implementing new ideas/activities. Other activities will be linked with the House of Europe: workshops with children, multicultural events, information stands.. The volunteer will meet the other volunteers during the Wednesdays in the House of Europe
Modalités d'hébergement, de restauration et de transport
The volunteer will be hosted in a student residence with other volunteers and will have his/her own studio or hosted in a shared flat with other volunteers with a private bedroom. He/she will receive a daily allowance of 9€ for his/her food, to cook in the residence or eat outside. For his/her travel to Nîmes, he/she will take the train or the bus and will receive a public transport ticket. The volunteer will receive every day an amount of 7€ for pocket money. TRAVEL GRANT: between 180 € and 610€ max (according to the distance ).
Formation pendant l’activité
In order to be able to organise workshops, the volunteer will take part in a training course organised by the "Maison de l'Europe de Nîmes" during which he will learn how to use non-formal learning tools. The volunteers will attend to the on-arrival and mid-term trainings animated by the French National Agency. At the apprenticeship school, he/she will have the opportunity to attend French lessons and benefit from the Online Linguistic Support of the programme. He/she will also be able to attend training on digital technology and first aid.
Profil du participant
We are particularly interested in volonteers who : - have a good understanding of pedagogy and are interested in non-formal education - have good communication skills to exchange with our apprentices - can adapt to apprentices’ educational needs. - are motivated and take initiatives - are interested in taking part and/or building projects in the local community - have basic French skills and English skills. - are flexible and can adapt to different situations and people from different backgrounds. - have an interest in European culture, sustainibility/green practice and digital tools
