Description

The “Young Leaders” ESC volunteering opportunity takes place in Trnava, Slovakia, organized by Youth for Equality, a non-profit organization focused on education, human rights, and community development. The project aims to support young people in developing soft skills such as communication, teamwork, leadership, and creativity through non-formal education methods like workshops, discussions, and group activities.Volunteers will support activities in schools, organize workshops and events, participate in discussion clubs, and help with community projects. They can also contribute to social media, collaborate with local organizations such as libraries and charities, and even create their own initiatives. The project promotes inclusion by working with diverse groups, including youth, and individuals with fewer opportunities.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

Volunteers will be provided with shared accommodation in apartments in Trnava. Each participant receives a monthly food allowance of 200€ and pocket money of 180€, transferred to their bank account. Travel costs are reimbursed based on the distance between the volunteer’s home country and Slovakia, according to EU rules. Local support and basic living needs are covered, ensuring a comfortable stay during the project.

Training during the activity

During the volunteering period, participants will receive continuous learning and support. Includes non-formal training through workshops, group activities, and practical tasks focused on developing soft skills such as communication, teamwork, and leadership. Volunteers will also attend Slovak language courses (around 4 hours per month) to help them integrate into the local community. Mentors will provide guidance, feedback, and personal support throughout the project. At the end of the experience, volunteers will receive a Youthpass certificate recognizing their learning outcomes.

Participant profile

The project is open to young people aged 18–30 who are motivated, open-minded, and willing to learn. Volunteers should have a basic level of English and an interest in working with young people and the local community. No specific skills or experience are required, but qualities such as responsibility, creativity, and initiative are important.Volunteers should be adaptable, empathetic, and able to work in a team. They should feel comfortable in multicultural environments and be respectful of diversity. Good communication skills and a proactive attitude are appreciated, as volunteers are encouraged to take initiative and develop their own ideas and activities.Volunteers should also be emotionally stable, patient, and sensitive when working with different groups, including young people, elderly, and people with fewer opportunities. Motivation to learn, grow personally, and contribute positively to the community is essential.
