Asociación Pro Derechos Humanos - APRODEH is an organisation that defends and promotes human rights. It has offices in Lima, Ayacucho, Apurímac and Huancavelica. It prioritises the dignity of victims of human rights violations and promotes awareness-raising processes and citizen participation through alliances and broad coalitions, developing advocacy campaigns in favour of political and legal proposals with a rights, gender and intercultural focus. Volunteer tasks: • Help with legal advice and accompaniment to affected individuals, communities and organisations • Strategic coordination meetings between lawyers to define complementary strategies • Accompanying victims, family members and their organisations in processes and actions related to reparations • Development of contents for participation in face-to-face or virtual training actions and for graphic materials • Participation in the preparation of reports, projects and articles for local media http://www.aprodeh.org.pe/
Alojamiento, manutención y transporte
The city of Lima has all the basic services, a very active cultural life and many educational opportunities. The volunteer will live in a secure accommodation identified by APRODEH. The working hours are from 9am to 5pm for a total of 40 hours per week. The association has the necessary material and logistical resources (computers, printers, internet, etc.). It also has experience in managing local and foreign volunteers. It has a team of 11 people. Travel costs, accomodation, visa and vaccination will be covered by the project. Volunteer will receive additionnaly monthly allowance of 600€.
Formación durante la actividad
The volunteer will have different ways and opportunities to learn about the reality of women's organisations, the situation of rural and urban Andean women and LBTIQ+ people in Apurimac, their strategies and efforts to achieve change at different levels. This will be through readings; from their participation in healing spaces and networking for advocacy. Being part of a team with experience in integral human rights will be important on a professional level.
Perfil del participante
Candidates must be 18 to 35 years old, reside in one of the eligible countries (EU Member State, North Macedonia, Iceland, Liechtenstein or Turkey), have completed the compulsory Humanitarian Aid Volunteering training and not have participated before in individual Humanitarian Aid Volunteering. . EDUCATION • Education in Law is an asset • Knowledge of gender issues, intersex issues • Interest in international law. • Ideal knowledge of the Inter-American Human Rights System. • Ideal knowledge of intercultural approach. • Experience in legal advice and advocacy • Ideal experience of working on gender issues. • Previous experience as a volunteer. SKILLS • Social sensitivity and empathy. • Synthesis and writing skills. • Organisational skills. OTHER COMPETENCES •Ability to adapt to different cultural contexts LANGUAGES • Fluent Spanish, written and spoken
