12 Month-Volunteering in rural North Germany

The volunteering is organised by two organisations in cooperation: • Forum Zukunft e.V. is a non-profit association in Germany that aims to promote sustainable development and social responsibility. It is run by volunteers. Tasks are supporting the open workshop and the community kitchen. • NaturErlebnisWald Dörverden e.V. runs a forest kindergarten “Diensthoper Rudel” with 15 children from 3 to 6 years old. The tasks are supporting the educators in taking care of the children and the place. The volunteer will be three days in the forest kindergarten 8:00-13:00, one day in the open workshop and one day in the community kitchen. The division of tasks can be discussed individually depending on the interests of the volunteer. Westen is a small rural village with a population of about 1300 people. It is situated in Lower Saxony, about 40 kilometers south-east of Bremen. The next train station is in Dörverden, which is 5 km (15 min by bike) away from Westen.
Alojamiento, manutención y transporte
The volunteer will be accommodated in a shared flat together with 4 other young people (from 20 to 30). The flat is in an old farmhouse, equipped with a bathroom, kitchen, wintergarden and other various common areas. The volunteer has her*his*their own (furnished) room. Together with the flatmates the volunteer will share food and decide together and autonomously how to organise shopping and cooking. The volunteer will be provided with a bike and basic public transport costs will be financed. Travel costs from home country to the project will be reimbursed depending on the EU distance band.
Formación durante la actividad
General Online Training & Preparation, Linguistic support, Pre-departure training (from sending organisation), On-arrival training, Mid-term evaluation, Annual European Solidarity Corps events. Potentially other trainings related to the project activities.
Perfil del participante
-24 and 30 years -motivated and open-minded -Parts of the tasks require a high degree of self-organization & self-coordination: organizing & implementing a project yourself, finding & implementing tasks independently, etc -to be willing to live in a small village & to work outside all year We welcome applications from all candidates irrespective of gender, disability, marital or parental status, racial, ethnic or social origin, colour, religion, belief or sexual orientation.The living and volunteering places are not barrier-free.We are open to consider together how to make it possible.
