Description

Mondo and Association Merkuri have been working together deploying expert volunteers to the area of Samegrelo region, in West Georgia. Since 2018, Association Merkuri runs a shelter for women affected by domestic violence, a centre for supporting families with violent/aggressive background. With this project we hope to strengthen our mission in different fields: working with children and youth at the organisation includes work with vulnerable groups of children and youth, such as victims or witnesses of violence, youth with social and geographical (rural youth) obstacles, internally displaced youth (IDP), Ukrainian refugees, etc. Main objectives for volunteering are: to develop and deliver a challenging and progressive youth work programme; to support young people and respond to their needs by providing supervision, emotional support, social and living skills' development, recreational opportunities, conflict resolution.

Modalités d'hébergement, de restauration et de transport

The volunteer will have to adapt and to be flexible regarding the local working and living environment different from the European one. He/she will be accommodated in a host family in a private house with access to necessary facilities, or in a flat shared with other volunteers. The Merkuri office is within walking distance. For each month of volunteering, there will be 2 days off. The costs of accommodation, insurance and flight tickets are covered by Mondo. The volunteer will receive a monthly allowance of 450 euros to cover basic needs and local transport.

Formation pendant l’activité

The volunteer will have the opportunity to get deep knowledge about youth related issues in the Samegrelo region, about work with vulnerable groups of youngsters in Georgia, and non-formal education. The volunteer will receive an informal Georgian language course with locals, and will improve knowledge about Georgian culture. Volunteering will build new contacts and partnerships.

Profil du participant

We are looking for a result-oriented, proactive and optimistic person, motivated to contribute towards development and to serve others. A commitment to the mission and values of Association Merkuri, and a sensitivity toward problems of domestic violence survivors is required. A strong experience of managing youth work is very welcomed. Good knowledge of English (B2-C1) language, knowledge of Russian language can be supportive. Good interpersonal, networking and communication skills. IT and social media skills.
