Description

Sowing community, we want it to be an opportunity to rethink private property, to imagine other ways of living and building the future. The main learning is to live in community, learn to communicate our needs in a respectful way, to contribute, to take care of ourselves and to take care of other people. Maintain and care for community spaces. In addition, you will learn to manage an orchard in a permacultural way, you will learn to make bread with old flour, with sourdough, and with a wood-fired oven, you will also learn to make canned, fermented or cooked vegetables. Fermented drinks such as kombucha, cervesza, cava are made. You will learn to cook for a few people, rich, healthy and varied food. Last but not least, you will learn to lead your own personal project, accompanied by a reference person, and involving the other volunteers and other Sequoia partners.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

In Sequoia, the volunteers will enjoy a single room for each one, a sink, a washing machine and a kitchen for the four of them. The midday kitchen is shared with the people of the house who eat there, breakfast and dinner are made in the kitchen of the volunteers' flat. For transportation, there are bicycles, train and bus service. The nearest train station is in Torelló, a 15-minute walk away, you can go to Manlleu (10min), Vic (20min) or Barcelona (1:40h), among other locations.

Training during the activity

You will have the opportunity to learn: - how to cook for several people rich, healthy and varied - how to make small repairs, to work with tools - how to manage an ecological garden of 8000 square meters, to use garden machinery - how to make bread with a 40-loaf oven, to make other preserves and fermented drinks. Ecological hygiene products, from plants or oil - how to manage a a cooperative for the distribution of organic products - how to lead your own projects - how to decide in a group and for the group. to take care of yourself from other people.

Participant profile

We are looking for people who want to learn to live in community, who will be stimulated by the activities we do in Sequoia. To encourage undertaking their own projects and contribute to a better future for all people. People who want to learn to respect and accept the diversity of realities, ages, cultures and ways of seeing and living the world, and to cooperate rather than compete. During this year, Sequoia begins its formal activity as a cooperative space with shared workshops, shop and gastronomic space. Therefore, the volunteers will witness the launch of an economic activity open to the public.
