Description

The volunteer will take part in activities of the Orléans local branch, aiming at animating actions to enable young isolated migrants to access services, leisure and culture to better integrate the local community. Together with two French young service civique volunteers: Accompany minors to their appointments (administration, health, school…) and invest in these moments together to exchange, understand their desires, needs and expectations. Organize awareness sessions with other associations on sexual violence, sexually transmitted disease, drug addiction etc. Host a daily drop-in center for minor migrants with coffee, tea, biscuits, games and a moment to talk and feel at ease Put in place collective actions (sports activities, cultural outings, debates on the news, games, initiations to sports of the country of origin ...) with young French Red Cross volunteers and other actors of the territory: sports associations, cultural institutions, etc.

Modalités d'hébergement, de restauration et de transport

The volunteer will be in team with another European volunteers. They will live in differents studios in the same building. They will receive pocket money and money to buy food. They will by provided with a public transportation card and a a bike. Timetable could be flexible according to activities. However a typical volunteering day will start at 9am and finish at 5pm with a one-hour lunch break. The volunteer could be asked to work on evenings according to local branch’s events. The volunteer will have two days off per week and two holidays per month.

Formation pendant l’activité

> French Red Cross Welcoming Training: Red Cross movement, values and principles, French Red Cross activities and organisation, French Red Cross organisation and activities in Orléans > First aid course (1 day) > Migration training: what is migration and how to welcome migrants (1/2 day) > Formation civique et citoyenne (optional): personal development and reflection on achievements and skills > French language courses: 2-hour group course + 1.5- hour individual course

Profil du participant

A very social person, willing to socialize a lot with French people of all ages and backgrounds A little bit crazy, with an original mind and crazy ideas Autonomous and able to pass from idea to action quickly once you have a “go” signal Speak at least a little French, as the minor migrants are almost all French-speaking young persons Empathetic but able to keep an emotional distance with the public
