Description

ActionAid is an international non-governmental organization whose stated primary aim is to work against poverty and injustice worldwide. In Kenya, ActionAid works in partnership with local communities, government agencies, and other non-governmental organizations to provide humanitarian assistance and address the root causes of poverty and inequality. Overall, ActionAid's humanitarian engagement in Kenya is focused on promoting sustainable development and supporting vulnerable communities to build their resilience to crises. In this volunteer opportunity, you will play a vital role in empowering young voices to play a pivotal role in shaping and monitoring emergency response efforts. Responsibilities include: Youth engagement - support participation of youth in design, implementation and evaluation of emergency responses; Capacity building; Communication and Outreach; Collaboration with youth led initiatives; Documentation of the impact of youth-led initiatives; Activities reporting.

Modalités d'hébergement, de restauration et de transport

Accommodation will be secured by AAIK in either individual housing or home stay generally meeting basic health, safety, privacy, and comfort standards to ensure the well-being of the volunteers while in service. The house will be modestly furnished and may include communal living areas like kitchens and dining rooms. The accommodation will be located within a distance not more than 7.5 kilometers (or 4.7 miles) from the office, the volunteers may be required to use public transport to and from the office costing around KES 80, one way. The house will be connected to water and electricity.

Formation pendant l’activité

The volunteer will attend an online pre- departure training to prepare for the opportunity, as well as an on-arrival training which will introduce the participants to the host country. Volunteers will receive a foundational e-learning course on human rights-based approach and induction on AADK and in-country induction in Kenya upon arrival. They will be enrolled in relevant global platform courses and learning initiatives for their learning and also knowledge transfer to other youth and make use of Youthpass, for identifying, documenting and validating gained learning outcomes in the projects

Profil du participant

Strong commitment to youth empowerment and inclusion. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Understanding of humanitarian principles and emergency response mechanisms. Ability to work effectively with diverse groups and communities. Flexibility and adaptability to dynamic and challenging environments. Fluent in English.
