Montessori & Friends Education gGmbH

Montessori Kinderhaus Lichtenberg

Berlin-Lichtenberg, Germany

Description

The bilingual Montessori Kinderhaus Lichtenberg is located near Ostkreuz and has been newly opened in November 2023. We look after up to 60 children aged 1-6 years in three groups. We are looking for a volunteer in a nest group with small children from 1 to 3 years. We are open for the children from 7.30 am to 5.30 pm. The children play and learn in a German-English speaking environment. They are in constant contact with our immersion specialists and are thus introduced to the foreign language in a playful way. The volunteers accompany the teachers and educators in their daily work. Typical tasks of volunteers can be: - Caretaking of the children - Supervising children and accompanying them while they play, reading books to them - Accompanying events or excursions to the forest, sports hall or other places - Initiating little projects with the children - Accompanying the morning or lunch circle - Kitchen work (e.g. preparing food, washing up after meal)

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

Accomodation is provided in a shared flat with two other volunteers in a new flat in the same building of the kindergarten in Lichtenberg. You will be provided with a monthly ticket for local public transport. Each volunteer has a single bedroom, kitchen and bathroom are shared. You will receive a monthly payment for grocery shopping (around 250 €) and a monthly pocket money in the amount of 210 € (general amount for volunteers in Germany).

Training during the activity

The volunteers will receive at least one German language course and additionally the online language course via the online system. The volunteers get the possibility to take part in the meetings of the team and will also have meetings only with the tutor on a regular basis. For the service in this oganisation it is necessary that the volunteers have a training in food hygiene. It will be conducted by the local health office. Moreover, volunteers will take part in two seminars, conducted by the German National Agency (one during the first weeks of the project and one in the middle).

Participant profile

The motivation of the volunteer to do a voluntary service and work with children is the most important criteria in selecting the volunteers. Other criteria might be: - very good English language skills (B2/C1), since the children are bilingual - basic knowledge of the German language is an advantage, but not mandatory - desirable: initial experience in the field of education - creative, technical, sports and/or musical skills - interest in the Montessori principles Since the majority of the ecutors is female, we would prefer male applicants. Since 2021, it is obligatory that people working in kindergardens in Germany have a measles immunisation. If you do´t have it, please be prepared to get the vaccination soon after your arrival in Germany.
