Description
Kita Mikado has four groups of children aged 1 to 6 years. The bilingual concept (German / French) as well as the discussion of scientific topics are the focus of the daycare. The Baden-Württemberg orientation plan is implemented using the pedagogical concept of educational and learning stories according to Margaret Carr. Every child is respected for their uniqueness and accepted as they are. Discovering and researching is another focus of the facility: experiencing cause and effect, natural phenomena up close and becoming little explorers. The focus is on the child with his questions, observations, ideas and reflections. Tasks of the volunteer: supporting the educators in one group of children, supporting the kitchen (breakfast and lunch), but also realizion personal ideas and activities according to personal interests. 24 days of vacation and 2 days free per week are included in the project. Accommodation, food and transport arrangements
You will be accommodated in a big house with other 6 international ESC volunteers. You will share with them kitchen, a yard, 2 bathrooms and a living room, and you will experience a beautiful community life. You will have your room, plus the house has a little guest room. The accomodation costs are covered by the project. You will receive approx. 150 € pocket money and approx. 270 € for food every month. Training during the activity
You will take part to two seminars of 5 and 7 days each: these consist in trainings organized by the National Agency, and allow you to meet other ESC volunteers in Germany, share your experiences, learn and talk about the main concepts of the European Solidarity Corps. The meetings take place in different cities in Germany. You also have the possibility to attend a course to become a youth leader, a language training, a first aid course, a climbing course and a life guard course. all of these offers allow you to work with kids and youngsters during your voluntary service and in the future.
Participant profile
• At least 18 years old • Interest in educational work • Interest and some experiences in working with children in age 0-3 • Some knowledge of English and possibly French (understanding, speaking, writing, reading), basic skills in German would be helpful but aren’t mandatory • having an accredited sending organization • Open to get to know Germany and German culture, sharing an international environment.
