MEAG, which literally stands for "Mamma Esco A Giocare" (Mum I go play outside), is a summer camp managed by the Giovani and Territorio service of Diaconia Valdese. It takes place in the small village of Luserna San Giovanni during the summer months, starting right after the school ending time. The summer camp is for children from 3 up to 13 years old, who arrive in the morning, stay during the day and go back home for the night. The first month of service will be about preparing th materials and setting the logistcs for the summer camp, as well as practicing the Italian language. Then, during the summer camp, volunteer will support the job of professional animators and educators by organizing and leading activities, participating in visits, propose games and taking care of the well being of the children during the day.
Alojamiento, manutención y transporte
The volunteer will stay in a house in Torre Pellice with other 4 international volunteers. The flat has a shared bedroom (with maximum one other volunteer) and 3 single bedrooms. The volunteers will share the common spaces (kitchen, living room, bathroom). The house is equipped with all necessary furniture (also towels and sheets for beds) and wi-fi connection. The volunteer will receive a monthly sum every month for the food expenses and will take care for his/her/their own meals. From the apartment it is possible to reach the volunteering placement by foot in 10 minutes, bikes are available.
Formación durante la actividad
The project will offer some training moments in order to prepare and support the volunteer. The organization will propose a welcoming session, ongoing monitoring sessions, a final evaluation moment, and the possibility to get individual support during the project activities. The volunteer will also be informed about on-line tools offered by the European Agency tailored for international volunteers such as the Online Linguistic Support. The volunteers will received task related support in order to perform the volunteering tasks during the project.
Perfil del participante
We look for a volunteer aged between 18 and 30 year old. The project does not require any special skills, expertise or previous experience. Previous knowledge in the Italian lenguage will be usefull to the volunteer and positively evaluate in the selection process. The volunteer has to be motivated, interested in the project, willing to challenge him/her/themself and get out of the comfort zone. The volunteer needs to be ready to learn and start a process of change, be enthusiastic and willing to start a great new adventure.
