Vol4HumAid - Permaculture for Sustainable Food Production

NACIONALINE NEVYRIAUSYBINIU VYSTOMOJO BENDRADARBIAVIMO ORGANIZACIJU PLATFORMA

Volunteers Initiative Nepal (VIN)

Thulachhap, Nepal

Description

Lithuanian NGDO Platform, in partnership with Volunteers Initiative Nepal, is implementing #Vol4HumAid project to address climate change challenges for farmers in Nepal's Okhaldhunga region. Erratic rainfall, rising temperatures and reduced snowfall have led to increased food insecurity, poverty and migration to cities for work. The project aims to help farmers by implementing permaculture practices to improve soil health, fertility and local food production; promoting agroforestry to enhance biodiversity; and improving water management. Volunteers will assist farmers with sustainable agricultural practices and design, planting and maintaining trees, constructing water tanks, rainwater harvesting and groundwater recharge techniques.
