The Europe House in Nîmes – Europe Direct Centre would like to host 1 volunteer for a project of 10 months in Nîmes, a south-east city of France. The volunteer will participate to the activities of a High school in the city centre of Nîmes. The objective of the project is to facilitate the intercultural exchange between the volunteer and students. Actors of the educational service, their activities will be to create and animate workshops for young people using non-formal learning methods. Most of the activities of the volunteer will be in link with European languages, non-formal learning and information about Europe. Main tasks of the volunteer: - support the International relations office in communication tasks such as contacting foreign partners, preparation of students' mobility - create video/graphic contents for the high school - Support in teaching European languages using non-formal learning methods ; -Helping students’ preparation for their mobility

Modalités d'hébergement, de restauration et de transport

The volunteer will be hosted in a shared flat in the city with his/her own bedroom, close to shops and the city centre. The volunteer will receive a daily allowance of 8€ for pocket money and 10€ for food. Travel costs will be covered depending on the distance calcuted by the ESC programme. The volunteer will work up to 35 hours per week from Monday to Friday, from 8 am to 5pm, with a 2h lunch break.

Formation pendant l’activité

The volunteer will have the opportunity to attend the on-arrival training and the mid-term evaluation organized by the French National Agency. Furthermore, there will be several possibilities to take part to other trainings during the year according to the offers and the interest of the volunteer.

Profil du participant

The Europe House in Nîmes and the high school want to host European volunteers in the team in order to add skills, especially with the students of the school to be more European and international. From the volunteers, the Europe House is expecting their desire to give to the public their knowledge and enthusiasm for the intercultural dialogue and intercultural learning. European information and sensitization is more credible if it’s made by young people from other European countries who believe in the European Union and who have a strong motivation to participate to the programs that are proposed, as well as learning foreign languages. Candidates should have basic knowledge in French to understand and be understood + knowledges in English AND Spanish. Their motivation, their capacity on bringing enthusiasm during their intervention, especially for the youngsters, and their understanding of the pedagogy and the contact will be important criteria. They will have to be flexible, mobile and to be able to adapt in every specific situation and every type of audience.
