Description

Humanitarian volunteering in the agronomic and forestry fields, focused on activities for environmental care. The volunteer will provide technical, practical, and logistical support to the local staff of ASPEm Bolivia in implementing reforestation campaigns and managing forest fires. They will assist local technicians in implementing silvicultural activities in the nursery and the field, as well as in creating agroforestry systems. The volunteer will accompany local technicians in studying biodiversity and the characteristics of protected areas. They will help prepare and produce informational manuals for awareness-raising and training activities in the environmental field. Additionally, they will contribute to the collection and analysis of project data for developing local and municipal land management plans.

Modalités d'hébergement, de restauration et de transport

Accommodation will be in the northern part of Cochabamba, the safest area with the best access to services (supermarkets, restaurants, hospitals, recreational areas, etc.). It will include electricity, water, gas, internet, common areas (living room and kitchen), and individual rooms with keys. In Cochabamba, there is a wide variety of affordable and healthy food (fruits, vegetables, meats, dairy products). Supermarkets offer everything necessary. Public transportation is varied and efficient, with lines passing through the volunteer's workplaces.

Formation pendant l’activité

The volunteer will participate in formal and non-formal training moments, before departure and during the volunteering experience. They will learn the dynamics of cooperation and humanitarian aid, learning to work closely with local communities and beneficiaries. They will enhance organisation, planning, monitoring and evaluation skills. They will have in-depth knowledge of the areas of intervention and their characteristics. They will strengthen listening, dialogue and intercultural approach skills. They will improve language skills. All the competencies will be certified through Youth Pass.

Profil du participant

A person with a passion for environmental protection and biodiversity care and a basic knowledge of the agro-forestry field. Work experience in the agronomic or forestry field is a plus but not mandatory. A degree in agronomy, environmental engineering, or international cooperation is preferable but not mandatory. Open attitude, empathy, adaptability to new contexts and unexpected situations, teamwork skills, leadership and conflict resolution skills, strong willpower, and a service-oriented mentality.
