Asociación Pro Derechos Humanos (APRODEH) is a non-profit organization that works for the defense and promotion of integral human rights. At our Ayacucho headquarters, priority is given to strengthening the capacities of agroecological producers in high Andean areas in Huanta and urban producers in Huamanga in alliance with an association of people with disabilities. In Huanta, the aim is to strengthen their capacity to participate in political and social advocacy for the protection of their native seeds and the recognition of their ancestral farming culture. In both areas we also work to promote women's rights, particularly their sexual and reproductive rights and political participation. The vacancy is linked to the strategy of political and social incidence regarding the mentioned topics: the transition towards a fair agroecology and the sexual and reproductive rights and political participation of women.
Accommodation, food and transport arrangements
The volunteer will receive a per diem for an average standard of living, according to the Peruvian reality. The Ayacucho headquarters is located in the capital of the region. Ayacucho has all the basic services, the volunteer will live in secure accommodation, receive a monthly allowance to cover food expenses (and other daily expenses), and also will be covered by a travel insurance plan. The sending organization team and the local team will support you during your volunteearing period, and will cover all the mandatory pre-deployment expenses (visa, medical check-up, fights...).
Training during the activity
Participation in the regional and national civil society articulation spaces, evaluation and adaptation of advocacy and communication strategies. Elaborating press releases and other communication content. Participating in spaces to strengthen capacities of advocacy, with emphasis on peasant leaders and women. Elaboration of memory aids and preparation of reports in the articulation spaces. You'll work in coordination with the head of the regional headquarters, the agronomist in charge, a social worker and someone in charge of the communication.
Participant profile
- FLUENT IN SPANISH: written and spoken. - Specialized in in Political Science or Communication for Development. - Knowledge of agroecological experiences (especially in Latin America). EXPERIENCE - Ideally, experience in agroecology. - Previous experience in volunteering. - Ideally with experience in information systematization. - Knowledge and experience in social network management SKILLS - Social sensitivity and empathy. - Ability to work in a team - Ability to synthesize and write. - Organizational skills. - Ability to adapt to different cultural contexts. - Desire to learn
