Description
The Padre Tobias Foundation is an institution that aims to promote social responses to the community where it is inserted, in particular with child, youth and elderly people intervening in an integrated and personalized way. The added value of integrating this project is that we can work with young people in our community, as well as with young people from foreign countries, thus providing them with the possibility of acquiring new technical and psychosocial skills through intercultural sharing. The activities for volunteers are related to the support that the Foundation promotes in the community where it is inserted, namely with the elderly, nursery and kindergarten, and the Second Chance School.
Modalités d'hébergement, de restauration et de transport
The Padre Tobias Foundation has a house solely for the volunteers and it's named "International House". This house is located in a strategic place in the city center, in order to provide quick access to the essential services to the daily life. The house itself is functional, cozy and simple, but it's not fit for people with reduced mobility. The volunteers will have at their disposa food provided by the Padre Tobias Foundation, so that they can cook their own meals.
Formation pendant l’activité
As per the protocol of the European Solidarity Corps, volunteers have training upon arrival at the National Agency. During their activities, volunteers will be offered Portuguese language classes for non-native speakers.
Profil du participant
The Padre Tobias Foundation wants volunteers to be involved and integrated in the dynamics of the institution. The Foundation has preference for volunteers with experience in volunteer work, preferably in the area of children and elderly. There are no requirements regarding the level of education or training on the part of the volunteer, being only necessary the interest in the work developed in the proposed activities. Among the personal qualities we would like to to receive dynamic young people, with responsibilities, tolerance, conscience and willingness to help.
