Description

Turkey Youth Foundation a leading NGO in Turkey, is hosting a European Solidarity Corps project in Istanbul from April 2025 to September 2025. Istanbul, straddling Europe and Asia, provides a unique setting for cultural exchange and learning. Volunteers are responsible for organizing four main activities: - European Arts Workshop, - Intercultural Dialogue Workshop, - Language Courses, - European Culture Instagram Video Series. These initiatives aim to promote intercultural understanding, enhance language learning, increase awareness of European cultural heritage, develop project management and content creation skills, and foster European identity and solidarity. Through these activities, participants will gain valuable experience in cross-cultural communication, teaching, and digital content creation. They'll also have the opportunity to explore Istanbul's rich history and vibrant culture.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

Volunteers will stay in a fully equipped, centrally heated 130 m², 3+1 apartment in the Fatih district of Istanbul. Each room accommodates two people, with roommates assigned by a random draw. The apartment includes a living room, a fully equipped kitchen, and a spacious bathroom. Provided facilities: Wi-Fi, television, air conditioning, iron, clean bed linens, and towels. Volunteers can have free lunch at the TÜGVA office. Each participant will receive a monthly allowance of 300 Euros. Travel expenses will be covered according to Erasmus+ guidelines.

Training during the activity

Volunteers will receive comprehensive training throughout their projects. Upon arrival, an orientation week will be organized to introduce TÜGVA, Turkish culture, and the project objectives. Ongoing training will include Turkish language lessons, cultural sensitivity workshops, project management sessions, digital content creation training, and regular mentoring sessions This holistic training approach aims to support the personal development of volunteers, enhance their contributions to the project, and prepare them for future intercultural experiences.

Participant profile

Youngsters (preferably with fewer opportunities) between 18 and 30 years old. Education in arts, cultural studies, linguistics, communication, social sciences, or related fields is preferred. Good command of English (minimum B2 level) Proficiency in teaching their native language Open to and curious about intercultural communication Desire to share their own culture and learn about other cultures Age limit: 18-30 Desirable qualities include: Artistic skills (music, dance, painting, crafts, etc.) Experience or interest in social media and digital content creation Knowledge of and curiosity about culture, history, and traditions Interest in youth work and intercultural dialogue Experience or interest in teaching or workshop facilitation
