Reintegration of returnees

CARITAS OSTERREICH

Caritas Serbia

Beograd, Serbia

Description

Volunteering in the Counselling center for returnees in Belgrade offers a unique chance to contribute to promoting humanity, tolerance, solidarity, and respect for human dignity. Volunteers will engage in various tasks, including coordination with EU repatriation counsellors (CSOs and institutional) and administration offices in the pre-departure phase, picking-up and organizing further transportation from the airport or bus stations to the place of residence of the returnees, visiting returnees at their place of destination upon return, creating reintegration plans and following up on them in cases that got reintegration funds, accompanying returnees to various local administration offices (social welfare centers, schools, communal office, etc.), providing holistic psycho-social assistance, if necessary. Working at the Counselling center for returnees gives opportunity to volunteers from the European Union to get acquainted with migration issues from another angle.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

The volunteers will be accommodated in the newly renovated apartment of the Archdiocese of Belgrade, next to the cathedral church and the pastoral center. The apartment is located in Vračar, a central area of Belgrade, and it is also close to the Counselling center for returnees, which can be reached by foot or public transportation. Caritas Serbia is planning to accommodate up to three volunteers at the same time, who would live together and have the freedom to prepare their own meals. During the working hours, there is no organized lunch, but food can be bought in shops nearby.

Training during the activity

The volunteers will receive comprehensive training in various aspects of return management and counselling, including field visits and attendances at online and in-person conferences, seminars and meetings. The training will also cover important topics such as safeguarding protocols, project management and data protection. If interested, they will also have the opportunity to engage in comparative analysis of social systems or/and project writing.
