Volunteer at a Spanish speaking kindergarten in Berlin!

Aventura Nikolsburg KiTa UG
Berlin, Germany
Description
The association Aventura Nikolsburg KiTa UG was founded in the year 2004 and opened six bilingual kindergartens in Berlin-Wilmersdorf since then. The aim of the association is to let children develop freely in a harmonious environment where creativity and new ideas play a major role. An important aspect of this is bilingualism - because languages promote both the individual development and the social skills of the children. The teams of educators are equally mixed with German- and Spanish-speaking persons. The association sees itself as a link between these cultures. We believe that children should be able to develop across borders without prejudice. For us, the individual child is a personality in its own right, of equal value and to be taken seriously with the right to the development of their own personality.
Accommodation, food and transport arrangements
You will live either in a host family or in a flat share with other young people. Lunch is provided at the kindergarten, for all other meals you get an allowance, so you can buy your own food. VIA e.V. offers you to get the Deutschlandticket for free (with the ticket you can use all public transport in Germany). You will get pocket money according to the ESC funding guidelines (currently 7€/day).
Training during the activity
At the kindergarten, you have a supervisor who will help you with getting settled into your new taks. You also have the possilibty to join regular team meetings and workshops. As part of the ESC programme, you will join two seminars in Germany where you meet other European volunteers and exchange and reflect your experiences. VIA e.V. offers you the opportunity to join German classes and also accompanies you through the Youthpass learning journey.
Participant profile
The motivation of the volunteer to do a voluntary service and work with children is the most important criteria in selecting the volunteers. Other criteria might be: - very good Spanish language skills (B2/C1), since the children are bilingual - basic knowledge of the German language is an advantage, but not mandatory - desirable: initial experience in the field of education. Since 2021, it is obligatory that people working in kindergardens in Germany have a measles immunisation. If you do´t have it, please be prepared to get the vaccination soon after your arrival in Germany.
