Description

We are seeking a volunteer to support our institution in Barbezieux-Saint-Hilaire, located in the South Charente. This role provides a valuable opportunity to engage in various educational and sustainability-focused activities. Within the school, the volunteer will: - Run intercultural and/or language clubs for both students and staff. - Address the topic of European mobility, providing testimonials and advice. - Co-teach with a teacher, proposing activities related to the subject being taught and adding a European dimension, along with firsthand experiences from their own country. - Lead or participate in projects involving students related to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including contributing to initiatives developed by the eco-delegates and the Student Life Council (CVL). - The volunteer will also have the opportunity to take part in a training session on the "Climate Fresk," with the goal of organizing a workshop on this theme for the students.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

Our high school is located in the small town of Barbezieux-Saint-Hilaire. The volunteer will share accommodation with two language assistants, including shared common areas (living room, kitchen) and a private bedroom (4 bedrooms available). This independent accommodation is close to the school’s boarding facility and meets current accessibility standards. The volunteer will have access to the school canteen for lunch and dinner during the school week. They will also have the option to prepare their own meals in the shared accommodation on weekends and during school holidays.

- Interest/commitment in the following themes: interculturality, European citizenship, sustainable development. - Organisational skills, autonomy. - Ability to supervise and lead groups of pupils. - French level B1 +, English and/or another European language. We expect the tasks entrusted to the volunteer to benefit the entire educational community, learners and staff alike, in the following areas: - opening up to the world: discovering otherness and shared history, improving language skills. - academic and professional ambitions: development of European mobility, knowledge of mobility opportunities and schemes, civic commitment. - knowledge of the major issues facing the world today: interculturality, sense of belonging and European citizenship, sustainable development.
