Description
Médicos del Mundo has a track record in Honduras and the Mesoamerican Region, with more than 20 years of experience in the field and in working in communities, as well as recognition of our work by public institutions and civil society. The volunteer will have the opportunity to learn first-hand about the situations of migration and forced displacement and sexual and reproductive rights/prevention of violence against women in Honduras and the Mesoamerican Region through the development and humanitarian aid projects that we are carrying out. His/her tasks will be: Preparing and developing workshops with the different project teams. / Design and develop a communications plan including digital media. / Update a media database at country level. / Support the teams in the management of social networks. / Design and production of videos. / Design of visibility and educational materials / Drafting of press releases. / Design of radio spots.
Accommodation, food and transport arrangements
Volunteer headquarters will be in Tegucigalpa and s/he will travel to the department of Cortes where we have an MdM office to support the teams working on different projects. The volunteer will be accommodated in one of the houses of MdM and will receive a monthly allowance to cover his/her food expenses of 700 €. Accommodation; return flights; visa and vaccination costs; health insurance; and basic equipment (laptop & mobile phone) will be provided and covered during deployment. Transportation and accommodation will also be provided and covered for all work-related travel.
Training during the activity
Volunteers will improve their professional knowledge through training in humanitarian action, and specific issues on security, gender, psychosocial support and will be provided with training resources to continue their learning. Those selected will receive briefings/training at MdM headquarters in Madrid with the different departments related to the mission and the position, as well as mandatory online training on environmental issues before they start their field work. Training sessions will take place both in the countries of the supporting organisations and in of the host organisations.
Participant profile
Professional in Communication/ Information Sciences. / Required spoken and written Spanish. / Ability to manage groups and to teach. / Experience in supporting social and community-based organisations. / Skills in understanding development projects and humanitarian action at a basic level. / Skills in the graphic design of publications. / Extensive knowledge and management of social networks. / Ability to synthesise in writing. / Experienced in photography and video. / Knowledge of the Central American context.
