Description
The activity will see the volunteers supporting "Irida" Women's Centre, a community centre for women of all nationalities and backgrounds. Volunteer will support day-to-day operations of Irida in supporting women through workshops, seminars, focus groups and creative activities. Volunteer will also support the child friendly space as: -Take care of children aged 1 - 6 in the children's friendly space at Irida -Playing with the children, creating suitable activities based in the ages and interests of the child -Working in a team of 2 to take care of up to 6-7 children at any time -Reporting any issues, concerns or ideas to the CFS lead.
Accommodation, food and transport arrangements
Volunteers are going to be accommodated in a fully equipped building located in the city centre (Anagnostara, 13) near the main bus station of the city. It is an autonomous 5 floored building of 150 m2 per floor and a terrace on the 6th floor. There are two living rooms and a big kitchen, showers in the common floors and toilets in every floor. Volunteer from our other projects also stay in the house. Each volunteer will share their room with one or three more people. Food is provided through catering service, Monday-Friday. City bus transport card can also be provided to volunteers.
Training during the activity
Task related training. -On-arrival and mid-term training by the Greek National Agency.
Participant profile
Volunteer must be between 18-30 and motivated to contribute in the aforementioned activities to support the women center. -To speak English or Greek at a good enough level to communicate with the children and parents and Irida’s team - Enjoying working with young children (1 to 5 years old) - To be reliable, punctual and responsible - To be able to work independently and as part of a team - Experience working with young children desirable - Formal training or education in working with young children desirable Her presence at the center will be required 5 days/week 4-6 hours (we can agree about the hours based on her capacity and USB’s program regulations) -Knowledge of French language can be considered a plus.
